IT WAS A PERFECT DAY: Track was in great
condition. The Vintage race had been run the day before and a long unused track
section was brought back "online". And it was awesome!. You drop into the
hole in 4th gear, two quick downshifts, rail
a long berm and then a leap to the
top.
The second women's race at ACE: 6 riders rode the
full track. Lots of excitement in 1st half. And some tense moments as the lead
changed twice in the second moto.
Carlo won all 3 motos he entered. Mike Leavitt had
2 mechanical problems (A flat and then a seized piston) but gave us some big air tricks at
the end of the day. Mike will be back on a mission. Local Rich Koretsky (and
ACE club member) put on a big show with his YZ250F. Great motos and lots of style.
And John Barton (ACE club president) kicked my butt in +40 expert --- again!
Tom Bruno was on the microphone.

The Following Action Shots
were taken by Mike Hoensch: expert rider #58
Tom Bruno #340: also
our announcer for the day, caught how a 4-stroke sounds.
#6 amateur shows us how
to"square a corner"
Joe Fritz (+40 expert) looking sharp
as he tries to outcorner Ralph Scannapieco for the lead.
Sal Benanti: 65 years old.
He looks better in this section
than I do! This is only Sal's second race this season. But nobody told
him. Sal went right out and jumped onto Murphy's Law with no hesitation and doubled
through the rockers just before it.
Phil Klemens (+40 expert) comes
charging out of the new ACE track section. Here's what it takes to get momentum for the step up.
Phil, you are rocking dude!
Mike Leavitt had a tough day (a
flat rear tire AND an engine seizure). But nothing stops Mike from having fun and
putting on a show for his District friends. He gave us a big "lazy boy" at
the end of the day off the spectator.
This is my favorite pic of the day. How does Rich Koretsky flatten out his rear suspension tripling
the rockers?
ACE club member with a
"new" business. Be sure to stop by and buy some supplies off Rich Koretsky (#272). He's
always giving district fans a big show.
John Barton, ACE president, "poses"
for his picture.
Here's Scott Behren pulling a big +25
novice holeshot. Nope, doesn't get
any better than this.
Making "ICE"
Not a great shot of the KDX rider
(#998 Mike Trotta). But this new rider was clearing the spectator table and
taking the double out of Gravity Cavity on a basically stock trail bike.
Carlo Coen: perfect style.
Bud Rothman (ACE club member)
jumping out of the new track section.
Tom Stinson JR. blasting over a
table.
John Barton in the new section.
Almost takes out the cameraman
(or squaring the corner?)
Converging lines, always a
challenge when things heat up.
