Saturday 12/9 Internatl Day of Action for Mumia-- 19th anniversary of Mumias arrest Sunday 12/10 Internatl Human Rights Day -1,000,000 signatures to the UN for internatl moratorium on the death penalty & day of action for Leonard Peltier The case of Mumia Abu-Jamal highlights the criminalization of Black men, the suppression of dissent, the expanded death penalty, the gutting of defendants rights, the epidemic of police brutality and a whole political atmosphere based on blame and punishment of the most oppressed. This is a major part of what Refuse & Resist! calls the politics of cruelty. You have a role in stopping this injustice! R&R! calls out to you to participate in this week of building awareness of Mumias case, initiated by the National Coordinating Committee of the Mumia (NCCM) Movement, and to organize for a large showing of support on Mumias first day in federal court (hearings on whether he should get a new trial so new evidence can be heard). December 6th . 12 noon, Philadelphia Federal District Court, 6th & Market. Clark Kissinger, member of the R&R! Executive Committee and the NCCM, was one of 94 people arrested at the Liberty Bell, 7/3/99. After he spoke at the anti-death penalty/Stop the Execution of Mumia rally on 8/1 in Philly during the RNC, he was charged with breaking the terms of his probation. His probation could be revoked and he could be sent to jail. Pack the courtroom. Hands off Clark! We need him on the front lines for Mumia! Actions in Los Angeles: The R&rR chapter is calling on people to help distribute 100,000 flyers on the case of Mumia Abu-Jamal during Mumia Awareness Week. This kind of campaign can have tremendous impact in bringing Mumia's story to thousands who have not heard about him.
