From the Gallants in Las Vegas

Have you ever had one of those years when you were reeeal busy, but you just didn't get everything you wanted to get done, finished??  Well, we just had one of those years..so we're sorry this is late, but here it goes.  Enjoy.

This year started out with a cruise to Mexico for us in February to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary (November 16, 1999).  Debbie and I had a wonderful time cruising to Puerto Vallarte, Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas.  Chris and Michael stayed home and celebrated.  Debbie’s sister Sue and her husband Lloyd moved to Las Vegas in July of ‘99, but they were quite homesick, so in March they moved back to Maine.  We miss them tremendously, but we know that Mom and Dad, Cathy and the rest of the family are happy to have them back.

We didn’t do a summer vacation this year, but we took a short trip to New Hampshire in October with friends of ours from Henderson.  The weather and the foliage were perfect. We spent 5 days in Lincoln, NH, just across the road from Loon Mountain.  There was a craft fair, an Octoberfest celebration, and about a million leaf-peepers there.   We also went  to Gardiner for a couple of days to visit family, but didn’t have a lot of time to see anyone else.

Debbie changed jobs in August, she is now in the College of Education, Department of Educational Leadership.  Ed. Leadership’s programs are for people who want to become administrators or principals in the school district or people who want to teach at the college or university level or serve in an administrative level.  There are 4 doctoral programs and 5 master level programs just in her department, so she is extremely busy.

Michael’s Punk band, 12 Step Program, rocked the house at the Huntridge, and the Sanctuary (two local teen venues) playing to crowds of over 400 people.  They even got a write up in the school newspaper!  Mike was the lead singer and with the help of the drummer, Ryan, wrote all their own music and lyrics.  The band broke up in November when the lead guitar player, Wes, moved to Texas with his Dad.  Mike and the bass player, Robert, are working on starting a new band soon.

Chris continues to move ever-so-slowly towards a degree at UNLV.  He is still working on the video production crew at the Thomas and Mack Center, and most recently was the technical director for four televised basketball games.  He also worked this summer as a board operator for the local “oldies” radio station, doing a nationally syndicated radio show called “Live from Las Vegas”.

We are planning a trip to Maine in July of 2001.  We will be spending a week at Ye Olde Fort Cabins in Pemiquid and at least a week (maybe 2) in Gardiner and Bangor.  So we hope to see some or all of you then.
