Jude Law 'nervous' about hanging out with Newman and Hanks Jude Law says he was nervous about hanging out with Tom Hanks and Paul Newman on the set of their new film. Law co-stars with Hanks and Newman in The Road to Perdition, the new film from Sam Mendes. He says he wasn't nervous about working with the two actors. "I was nervous about what to say to them when we were hanging out with each other" he tells the Sunday Times. "I was worried that if I opened my mouth, I wouldn't be able to close it". "If you're a confident person, that sort of thing's easy, but the truth is, I'm not". Law says he was attracted to the role of a seedy hired killer in the film becuase it gave him the chance to play a character with a darker side. "Sam let me be as freaky and disgusting as I wanted, and believe me, I am truly horrible and repellent in this movie," he says. The Road to Perdition will be released in the UK later in the year.

THE LAW IN LONDON Frighteningly handsome actor Jude Law, who lost out the lead role in "From Hell" to Johnny Depp, has yet to give up his dream to fight crime on the mean streets of foggy London. Law is apparently in contention for taking on the role of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic snoop in "Sherlock Holmes and the Vengeance of Dracula." For those unfamiliar with the project, the story follows the return of king vamp Dracula to London, seeking out Abraham Van Helsing and the others that had formerly tried to subdue him in Transylvania. Along the way, and after at least one mysterious death, London’s much sought after super-sleuth hops on the case, disbelieving the mythos behind such creatures. Michael Valle’s script was picked up way back in November of 1999 for a whopping $700,000 with an extra $300,000 should the film see the light of day. Valle sadly passed away last year, and won't get to see Hollywood wreck his excellent script. Originally Chris Columbus' 1492 Productions was set to take the lead with Columbus himself pointing the camera. However, a little something called Harry Potter proved to be his English feature of choice. Rand Ravich, director of "The Astronaut's Wife", was later hired for a re-write and at one times rumored to be set to direct, however at this time no director is attached. Law meanwhile is attached to portray William Shakespeare in a movie about writer Christopher Marlowe, and he is also considering a role as Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde in David Mamet's next film. Guess he's a history buff.
