If you care for your family, your possessions and your society you will take the time to read what is currently available here and to check back occasionally for updates. After having been a reader of The Townsville Bulletin for a number of years now, I am convinced that they are either unable or simply unwilling to provide to Townsville residents an unbiased appraisal of the reality of the consequences of drug prohibition.
When people have looked at the issue of drug prohibition with an open mind and clear vision they can not escape the reality that the "Drug War" is now causing more harm than drug abuse itself. At the end of this article is a short list of just some of the many famous Australians who agree that the above statement is spot on. Furthermore, they firmly believe that the "Drug War" has in fact "empowered organized criminals, corrupted governments at all levels, eroded internal security, stimulated violence, and distorted both economic markets and moral values. These are the consequences not of drug use per se, but of decades of failed and futile drug war policies." Clicking on the above quote will open a new window in which will be displayed a letter signed by the above mentioned people plus hundreds of other people from around the world who not only agree these statements but also have the guts to stand-up and say so. The letter is addressed to Kofi Annan, the UN Secretary General, calling for open debate on approaches to drug control on the occasion of the United Nations General Assembly's special session on the global drug problem held in New York City. If you also agree that drug prohibition is unworkable and in fact that the drug war has been lost then you are far from alone. There is a huge and forever growing number of todays greatest thinkers coming to the same realisation. I find it interesting that when The Townsville Bulletin made mention of this letter to the UN it chose to mention only Ita Buttrose and Mike Willesee as being signatories! Hmmmm. I have since cancelled my subscribtion to the "bully".
I invite you to take a look at my links page where you will find many links to pages concerned with drugs. You will also find links to some of my favorite religious pages as well. Below is that partial list of Australians who believe in standing up for what is right and are not afraid to do so.

There are now 3 ways in which you may get to The Townsville Crier web-zine. There is the original http://connect.to/thetownsvillecrier, which unfortunatly gives you a pop-up window promoting the connect.to service. The second way is http://phase.da.ru which blanks out a tiny section at the bottom of the page with a link to www.da.ru in it. The third way is http://phase.freespace.nu this is the simplest and fastest way to get here. If you can remember this one it is probably best to do so as I often change the location of where I store these pages (keeps people on their toes!). It also makes it easier to remember my e-mail address (phase@freespace.nu).
